Quick Tips - Is it OK if there is foam when mixing the NEBNEXT® reagents?

This video will explain why there is sometimes foam when mixing the NEBNext reagents.

Script

A lot of our customers want to know if it’s OK if foam is created during mixing the NEBNext reagents. A little bit of foam is actually OK because it’s important that the samples are mixed well.

To avoid excessive foam, you can set your pipette to 10-20% below the total well volume and you can keep your pipette tip in the sample at all times. During the last mix, be sure to dispense very slowly so all the sample can come out of the tip. If you still think you have a lot of foam you can do a brief centrifugation step to collapse all of the bubbles.
