New England Biolabs® Launches NEB TV

New web video series explores the latest trends in molecular biology

IPSWICH, MA (September 14, 2015) — Developing exciting ways to re-engineer organisms for novel functionality, like biochemical and protein production, is among the themes discussed in the premier episode of NEB TV, a new monthly video series from New England Biolabs, Inc. (NEB®) that explores cutting-edge research topics and trends in molecular biology.

"NEB TV was created to help viewers stay up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in a constantly evolving field, and to illustrate how basic science innovations can change the way we, as scientists, interact with the world,” stated Andrew Bertera, Executive Director of Marketing at NEB. “With video becoming increasingly popular and effective in scientific communications, we felt that NEB TV would nicely complement our existing content found both in print and on our website.”

The premier episode covers synthetic biology and features a "Science in 60 Seconds" segment that gives a quick overview of the field, a recap of a recent synthetic biology conference, SEED, and a discussion with Chris Voigt, Ph.D., and Deepak Mishra from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in which they provide insight on the future of synthetic biology.

Episodes will be released on a monthly basis in a mobile-friendly format, with topics ranging from genome editing and DNA amplification to science education. NEB TV will also include technical tips for experimental research, as well as stories from NEB's friends and family that will give the viewer an insider’s look at the company.
